How To Enable Safe Mode On Windows 8
Unlike previous Windows versions, where one can easily enable/disable Safe Mode and other Advance Boot options from System Configuration utility, also called msconfig tool, Windows 8 requires user to manually enable Safe Mode boot option using
Boot Configuration Data (BCD) Edit command. In this guide ill tell you all
how to enable safe mode on windows 8.
Instructions To Enable Safe Mode on Windows 8
- The First Step is to run command prompt. From Start Orb hover menu, click Search. In search bar enter CMD and then click Apps. It will show CMD in main window. Now right-click it and from Advanced button present in bottom right corner, choose Run as Administrator.
- Now enter the BCDEdit command as shown in screenshot below. bcdedit /enum /v
- The command shows you numerous attributes and settings for both Windows Boot Manager and Windows Boot Loader. From Windows Boot Manager section, write down the default attribute reference number, which is same for resumeobject and displayorder, on default text editor. Now enter the following command. bcdedit / copy {reference entry number} /d “Safe Mode”
- Once the entry is successfully copied, close the CMD console and use Win+R hotkey combination on desktop to bring up Run console. Enter msconfig to open System Configuration utility
- Now Navigate to Boot tab, make sure that Safe Mode is selected, enable Safe boot and underneath Timeout, enable Make all boot settings permanent option. Click OK followed by Restart to reboot your system.
- Before Windows starts loading, press F8 key to enter into Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Click Use another operating system option to access Safe Mode.
- Clicking Safe Mode will prepare your system to load into Safe Mode. After a reboot, it will take you directly to Safe Mode main login screen.
